| Welcome to the homepage of the International Society of Hymenopterists. The aim of the Society is to encourage scientific research and promote the diffusion of scientific knowledge about bees, ants, and other wasps. Membership is open to all persons with an interest in hymenopterans. If you are a hymenopterist and not yet a member, please join the Society. Memberships support our journal and our meetings. See below for information. If you are a member, please consider sponsoring a membership for a person who would like to be part of our community but cannot afford it due to the strength of the dollar. The aim of this website is to provide information and to foster communication among the Society's members. If you would like to have anything added to the website, don't hesitate to send an email to archivist at hymenopterists dot org. Our Society publishes the Journal of Hymenoptera Research – an entomological journal dedicated to the study of the bees, wasps, and ants. Members receive the journal free. For more information on the journal, click on the PUBLICATIONS button in the left margin. This is also where you'll find our newsletters. Our next gathering is probably going to be at the International Congress of Entomology in South Africa (July 6-12) and the one after that will be at the ESA meeting in Reno, Nevada (USA) (Nov 16-19 2008). The Society regularly awards the ISH Distinguished Research medal for outstanding contributions to Hymenoptera research and the ISH service award for outstanding service to our Society.
